Timber Ridge Residents Celebrate Senior Prom
Senior proms aren’t just for seniors in high school. At least that’s what the seniors at Timber Ridge Senior Living Facility would tell you! Just two weeks ago, the senior residents enjoyed a memorable prom of their own.
On September 16th, both Eureka and McKinleyville residents danced the night away to music from the 40’s and 50’s. Residents not only loved getting dressed up, they enjoyed dancing and refreshments.
Larona Farnum, Executive Director of Timber Ridge, feels that activities like these benefit the residents of Timber Ridge. “It’s important for our residents to be active and social. Our residents had a chance to dress up, enjoy the music that they love and socialize with each other. A number of our residents had not attended their own proms in high school and were very excited about having the opportunity to go to a prom!”
Seniors Having Fun - Part of an Active Happy Life
According to Farnum, “Timber Ridge constantly holds fun, social events for residents and their families.” And Farnum adds, “the benefits are obvious... currently there are 5 Timber Ridge seniors that are over 100 years old in residence.” Farnum says this is because, “an active life is a happy life.” Part of senior living is creating opportunities to have our seniors having fun.
Seniors Having Fun - and A Happy Halloween for All
Residents at Timber Ridge Assisted Living were treated to a costume parade by a number of classes from Washington School on Halloween Day. Over 410 children walked to Timber Ridge accompanied by their Teachers and class aides to display their costumes to the residents of Timber Ridge. Executive Director Larona Farnum said treats were handed out and a good time was had by all! Now that's seniors having fun!
